The case of Zambezi Portland Cement goes back to almost a decade, when it was forcefully captured by the Ventriglias. When Dr. Mahtani took the matters to the Lusaka High Court, the Ventriglias contested that the shares owned by Dr. Rajan Mahtani at the factory are not paid for. However, during the trial phases that have been going on for many years, the Ventriglias have not been able to share even one strong to support their claim. Dr. Mahtani and his team have however; shared numerous evidences, documents and testimonials that prove his legal ownership over the factory. The signed shareholder’s document clearly indicated his investment of more than USD 8 million on the growth and development of the factory. At the same time, his legal team has shared numerous financial exhibits that clearly indicate his shareholdings and investments in the factory. Another important evidence submitted was independent audit report from an auditor. As per this audit report, Dr. Mahtani is the sole joint venture partner of the establishment.
Even after all these evidences, final judgment has not been announced yet. The judge currently handling the case recently announced closing of the case hearing which gave a big relief to Dr. Mahtani and his team. Final judgement is expected soon.
