The press release claimed that Rajan Mahtani, the chairman of ZPC, has falsely claimed personal credit for the housing project. However, this is a complete false statement and it is true that 127 houses and 6 boreholes will be constructed in Senior Chief Chiwala's area in Masaiti for the displaced families.
In the email, Antonio Ventriglia, alleges that Rajan Mahtani hasn’t contributed any money for construction of these houses. But Peter Kanaganayagam, the Chief Executive Officer of Zambezi Portland Cement Ltd said that the press release that’s sent through emails is unlawful and isn’t from any certified company domain.
He even added that Zambezi Housing Project isn’t about Dr Rajan Mahtani, the chairperson of ZPC; it is about giving dwellings to the individuals who are to be displaced for the reason of mining works of ZPC. According to Mr. Kanaganayagam, ZPC is a limited company and Rajan Mahtani is just a part of the organization. The involvement in housing construction can thus not be accredited to any person but the organization. He says that the chairperson of ZPC is living to this very fact and that’s why he never asked for any personal credit for the Zambezi Housing Project.
