One of them is the notorious Ventriglia family in Zambia. They are known for their unethical practices. The Ventriglias illegally took over the Zambezi Portland Cement factory by force. It is a cement factory legally owned by Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Thus, started one of the longest running cases in the corporate history of Zambia. The case was registered by Dr. Mahtani at the Lusaka High Court almost 10 years back. The Ventriglias defended themselves by saying that Dr. Mahtani did not pay for the shares he owns at the factory. However, the evidences shared by Dr. Mahtani prove otherwise. The signed shareholders agreement, financial exhibits and independent audit reports clearly suggest that Dr. Rajan Mahtani not only paid for the factory shares but have also invested significantly for the growth and development of the factory. On the other hand, the Ventriglias have not been able to share any significant document during their tenure at the court.
The judge currently handling the case has announced that the case hearing is closed and both parties will be submitting their evidences. After looking into these evidences, final judgement will be announced.
